Sunset View Near The Freeway

Yesterday I walked down near the storm drain with the large boulders, which is next to the ten freeway. There is a view of Mount Baldy and the San Bernardino Mountains in the background. The silhouettes of the tree and the mountains were quite interesting, and I loved the bright pink images I captured near the end of my walk.

Late Afternoon In Southern California

I went on a late afternoon walk here in Southern California, and here are some of the photographs I took of the views in the shadows of the setting sun.

The video above shows a view of a storm drain and the freeway here in Southern California. I found the boulders in the storm drain to be quite interesting with the late afternoon light.

Walking In The Hills of Loma Linda

Today I went for a hike in the Loma Linda hills for about an hour.  I found a trail that wound it way up through the hills, but was not steep like the one I traveled up the other day.  This hill took me part of the way to the top, and there was a nice view of the city and the mountains in the distance.  After about an hour I decided to turn back.

I continued walking up into the hills, which are switchbacks that give the hiker or bike riding enthusiast many options. Today I opted for the main trail, which gently curved and gained elevation. I will leave the crazy trails to the mountain bike riders because those things are quite steep.

Also, I have created a video of my walk for anyone who is interested in seeing the scenery while in motion

Seeing The Train

Previously I mentioned that I am fascinated by seeing trains, and I never tire of photographing these, especially when I happen to pass one going by. Here are some more photographs I took of a train the other day.

The photo gallery above illustrates what the train looks like as it passes near this park. The video below shows what the train looks like when it is in motion.

Exploring Around Loma Linda

Today I decided to take a bike ride up into the hills of Loma Linda because I wanted to explore the area a bit more.  I did find one trail that I might explore a bit more later, but mostly I just wanted to get out because it is only 81 degrees Fahrenheit, and this feels quite cool to me on a mid-June afternoon.  I enjoy the heat, so the eighties are not hot for me at all.

Above are two photos of the train as it passed by a local park. Loma Linda has several parks, and is well known for maintaining open spaces. Below is a video of the train passing the park.

I continued up the road until I reached the park. The view of the San Bernardino Mountains was a bit obscured by the smog, but I can imagine this would be the ideal place to watch the fireworks on the Fourth of July. Hopefully the fireworks will be on a clear night like the day the fourth fell on last year.

I did not go far up this trail, but it looks like a rigorous walk/hike for those who want to incorporate more hills into their exercise routine.  I know biking up the hill to the park gave me a bit of a workout, but being outside is far more invigorating that working out at the gym.  The video below shows a bit of the dirt trail I walked up today.

S Is For The Santa Fe Depot

This Santa Fe Depot is no longer in operation here in Redlands, but I think it is still amazing train stop to walk around and admire the architecture. I like to imagine a time back when people boarded the train here, and I think it would be so convenient to have a train stopping here again. Here are a few pictures I took of the Santa Fe Depot here in Redlands.
