E Is For Exercise And Hiking

Today the letter E is for exercise and hiking here in Southern California. One of my favorite areas to explore is the San Bernardino Mountains, which has many trails.

These are just a few of the images to be seen when hiking on north side of the San Bernardino Mountains. I especially enjoy looking at the stripey granite boulders.

  1. The vegetation there looks more desert than I would have expected. Obviously I haven’t been in California that much, but am quite familiar with New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Texas. I do love your landscape, and need to visit that area one of these days!

    1. This is the desert side of the mountain, so it is technically high desert. A few miles away from here is more foresty. The chaparral side of the forest is definitely high desert, but not completely since there are a few pine trees here and there.

    1. I enjoy comparing the differences of the view of Hesperia on this part of the mountain and in other areas. Here it is only about ten miles away if you could directly walk through the valley, but most people do not want to do that. There is also a old wagon trail near here, and one day I want to go down there and photograph it. However, it is down a hillside and in true rattlesnake country, so this time of year might not be the best to do it in.
