F Is For Flowers

If you visit my blog often enough you will see that I frequently post pictures of flowers. Thus, today for the letter F I decided to share a few pictures of the floral beauty that I see during my daily adventures.

Daffodils are one of my favorite flowers because these are shiny yellow color, which reminds me of the sun.

Daffodils are one of my favorite flowers, which bloom in late February and early March here in Southern California.

In this video you can see Annie the cat frolicking among the spring flowers back in 2011.

Another one of my favorite flowers is the simple holly hock, and I planted one in my container garden last summer. Each morning new blooms opening on this plant.

  1. Daffodils are some of my favourite spring flowers! We call them “Osterglocken” (easter bells), because they usualy grow around this time and we always give them to friends and family as small easter presents 🙂

    1. Is Osterglocken a German word. That is really cool to hear what daffodils are called in other languages. These are definitely one of my favorite flowers.

  2. My daffodils are in full bloom. Thanks to a very cold winter, they delayed opening. In years past they bloomed and then faded in February – bummer!

  3. Your daffodil pictures are beautiful, Julia. And the hollyhocks are lovely, too. Things are very much into blooming here right now. I have some daffodils that are already fading away. and others are still in full bloom. It seems every individual flower has its own timing. The peach blossoms are now competing with the newly opened cherry blossoms for the attention of the bees.

    1. I always love looking at the pictures you post of flowers and other plants, Aya. I will have to stop by your blog later today to read and comment.

  4. Your pictures are lovely! I need to remember that I have a camera in my pocket, and just take more pictures! And videos! I’m sure Mittens would cooperate with videos and pictures out in the yard ….

We do have some lovely purple irises blooming by our door, but when I saw them, i was late for dialysis so I couldn’t take a picture then, and today I’m just too lazy to go outside for a picture just yet. 🙂

  5. Ah ha! I see it now. Daffodils looking like suns hanging about. I’ve only been successful in growing hollyhocks once. The ground was so healthy, one grew to way above the Husband who’s nearly 6 ft.

    1. My parents are really good at growing hollyhocks up in the mountains, and I think this flower does better up in that climate. I do have a couple of new ones growing in plants here in my container garden, but I think they prefer more variation of weather than what the Inland Valley has to offer. Some days we might just be too hot for the liking of the hollyhock plant. That is cool your hollyhock grew above six feet. I remember as a kid one summer we had some super tall hollyhocks like you were mentioning.
