Today the letter F is for taking a walk in the forest up in the San Bernardino Mountains, which is a place I love to explore.

  1. Wonderful photographs. Sadly the slideshow did not work for me–shall try again tomorrow when not so tired. Interested that you have adopted a vegan lifestyle. I was just watching a program which claims it is the best way to keep oneself young–that, and dancing. 🙂
Thanks for your wonderful comment on my blog and very pleased to discover yours.

    1. Yes, there is a lot of research that actually substantiates that veganism is good for health. Just look at some of the Blue Zone areas where people live the longest, and a few of these have people who eat almost no meat, or live on primarily plant based diets. It is for someone else to decide if being a vegan is for them, but I have experienced many benefits. I am an active person riding everywhere on a bike, I am not on prescription medication, and I have not got the flu or a cold in over three years. I always had a pretty good immunity previously, but I have not been ill in this span of time, and I attribute to healthier eating options. However, I do think focusing on primarily plant based whole foods is the key, and a vegan junk food diet can be unhealthy. Ultimately I am vegan because when I started realizing animals feel pain, and I am not comfortable with this. Also I grew up semi-vegetarian, and only ever ate chicken growing up because I felt this was what I needed to do to fit in. I always had a issue with preparing raw meat, and I could not do it. I realized I could go weeks with out eating meat, and I never missed it. In November 2013 I thought I would try to roast a turkey, and I was running into the same issues again. I was feeling sad about the dead turkey, and disgusted about having to handle it. After that I decided no more meat for me, and I have not regretted it. I am not suffering for a protein deficiency, and there is life on the other side if someone is tempted to forego meat. Anyone curious should check out Dr. Barnard and Dr Greger. They both have a social media presence, and provide some good info.
