Z Is For Zemene

I had no clue what to write about for the letter Z, so today I decided to write about a zemene smoothie. The word for strawberry in Latvian is zemene, so this is the topic of my last post for the A to Z Challenge. Yes, I blog about strawberries frequently, but these are in season at the moment, so why not share this delicious fruit that I enjoy putting in my smoothies.

Zemene is the Latvian word for strawberry, which is fruit in this smoothie.

I added the clementines and bananas to the strawberries and almond milk, which had already been pureed.

R Is For The Red Strawberry Smoothies

These red strawberry smoothies have about two cups of pureed strawberries, two oranges, two bananas, and almond milk for blending.

It is strawberry season here in Southern California, so I have included this fruit in many of my smoothies. Yes, seasonal fruit goes well in blended drinks, and you do not always have to purchase exotic ones. Of course I did add bananas, but I do love this fruit, even though this particular ingredient is not local. Also, I added some oranges to the smoothie to add extra flavor.
