Last night I noticed there was a little skunk frolicking around outside of the store, and he appeared to be a baby. I am not sure of the specific gender of the skunk, but he was smaller, so I am guessing it was a baby skunk. He made eye contact with me and did not seem scared, but I was only able to capture a picture of him prancing away. I did not want to get to close and end up being sprayed by the skunk. This picture is from a distance, but perhaps it will give you an appreciation of how there are animals living in semi-urban areas. We have city streets and businesses all around, but we still have open areas as well. This skunk was making himself quite happy among the bushes surrounding the store.
I hope the skunk found its way home safely. What sorts of store was it? Do you think they sold things that skunks might like? Was the skunk attracted to something in their trash bin?
Yeah, he was headed for the trash. It was the dollar store, so maybe there was some food in the trash. There is a field near the store, so maybe he lives nearby. I wanted to get closer, but did not want to end up getting sprayed.
Oh they are so stinky but they are also so cute. This is a youngin for sure
You are right, he does look pretty small :).
Skunks are cute, but I’m happy to keep a far distance like you and zoom in with my camera.
Very true!
