My blog friend Su-siee! Mac is always posting clever and interesting photographs on her blog, and I am mesmerized by her black and white photo entries. Tonight she inspired me participate in the The Weekend in Black and White , so this post is a monochromatic image of a Joshua tree with the moon overhead. I went to Joshua tree on a Wednesday a couple of weeks ago, but this is the perfect weekend road trip for people living in Southern California. There is just something serene about gazing at Joshua trees, which are surrounded by large boulders. Put away the cell phone when you get out there, and just spend some time enjoying nature.
That’s a lovely tree and equally beautiful capture.

FRANKLY MY DEAR
Thanks, ewok1993. I was encouraged to participate in this meme by Su-siee, and I am glad I spotted it on her blog.
This is a beautiful shot! You should be proud.
Thanks, Birgit!
very nice. The Joshua Tree will forever be linked in my mind with U2.
Oh yes, the Joshua Tree has a very strong connection to U2. Actually, it made me want to listen to those songs when going through my photos. The cool thing is a lot of young musicians in the LA area have been inspired by U2, and they go out to Joshua Tree to do photo shoots.
An evocative photo. One day I’d like to see a Joshua Tree.
Welcome to the Challenge!
Thanks! This challenge is fun, and many beautiful photos to see.
Such a shapely tree created quite a dramatic statement against the sky.
Yes, these trees did make a statement. I love their irregular shapes as well.
That’s really a very special tree. Nice B&W picture. Beatiful scene with the moon overhead.
Greetings from Hilde.

Thanks, Hilde.
Very cool composition, Julia. Because of your photos, I’ll no longer think of Joshua trees as being prickly or static. Now, they are hairy and fluid. Thanks for the mention. 🙂
Your cool photo inspired me to join the challenge, so of course I would mention you :-). I love the hairy and fluid look of Joshua trees, but I would never pet one. It might be spikey.
That is a very striking image! I especially like how the moon makes it presence felt.
The moon does add dimension to the capture.
Congratulations on this great photo in B & W!
Thank you, Leovi!
