The hummingbird appeared after the heavy rainstorms we had yesterday. This morning it was sunny, but torrential rains arrived around two this afternoon. It was quite unexpected to see a hummingbird flitting between the hollyhocks and the new morning glory vines.
After the hummingbird spent a few minutes around the hollyhocks, it flew to the top of the patio ceiling, and touched the surface with his bill. I do not know if the hummingbird is male or female, but for the purposes of this blog I decided to refer to the bird as being male.
That is a beautiful sight! I envy you the visit from the hummingbird and the ability to capture it so clearly, I sometimes see hummingbirds on my property, but they flit about so fast, I cannot capture a clear image.
Glad you got some rain, too!
I am surprised so many birds have showed up on my patio this year, but I was excited to be able to photograph these upclose. By the way, you can hear Irina meowing in the background. She thinks I am going to let her out when she spots a bird, but I am like I do not think so.
This is beautiful and a hummingbird means joy in life. I love it that you not only photographed him but were able to have a short video too
I am happy I was able to capture the hummingbird.
Delightful! The hummingbird is happy with the flowers. We have a couple around the house yards, too. Towards fall, when the flowers aren’t so many, I put out sugar water until they migrate to their winter spots. Males are colorful–greens, blues, reds–while females are brown.
Hummingbirds are such by beautiful little creatures.
