Walking Through A Southern California Field

Today I decided to take a walk through a field here in Southern California.

A short video of the orange trees. This field definitely reminds me of imagery from a Steinbeck novel, back when California had many orange fields. I am still saddened by people cutting down orange fields to build more structures, especially when there are so many vacant ones scattered across Southern California.

  1. I love all the photos. They are so clear and bright. You can tell the orange trees were planted, rather than planting themselves, because they stand in such neat little rows. I think it is great that pomegranate trees grow there. Are they wild or cultivated? I love pomegranates. The spiky fruit tree reminds me of what is called קיקיון in Israel. It is from the ricin family and can be toxic.

Actually, all these pictures remind me a little of Israel. I am feeling nostalgic.

    1. That is a good point Aya, it does look a bit like Israeli as well. We have somewhat of a Meditterean climate here in the lnland Valley, and I think the pomegranate tree was planted on its own. Crows fly over this field, so one of them probably cause these trees to be planted. I still wonder what the tree with the poky fruit is.
